COMMUNITY spirit peaked this week in Peamount Healthcare as locals from the Four Districts rowed in to put on an inclusive variety show with the residents of the centre.
There is no doubting from the change in the weather that summer is over. And what a summer we have had following the easing of many of the restrictions that we have lived with for the last 2 years.
Mike had the opportunity to meet some of the Consultants, Team members and Patients in Age Related Rehab and also a Patient in the Respiratory Unit.
Peamount Healthcare was founded in 1912 as a Tuberculosis (TB) Sanatorium by the Women’s National Health Association. With the decline in the incidence of TB in later years, more accommodation became available for other services. In 1963, at the request of the Department of Health, a residential unit for people with an intellectual disability was opened. Over time as the needs of the community changed, Peamount developed a wider range of healthcare services.
