Clinical Nurse Specialist (Behaviour Management)

The successful candidate will be expected to meet the following criteria:
Essential:

  • Be registered in the Intellectual Disability Division of the Register of Nurses/ RGN or RPN kept by Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) or be eligible to be registered. AND
  • Have at least 5 years post registration experience in the division of the register in which the applicant is currently practising; AND
  • Have a minimum of 2 years experience in the specialist area of working with people who display Challenging Behaviour. AND
  • Have the ability to practice safely and effectively fulfilling his/her professional responsibility within his/her scope of practice. AND
  • Must demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development. AND
  • From the 1st September 2010, must have a Level 8 (or higher) post registration Quality & Qualifications Ireland major academic award relevant to the specialist area of Behaviour Support, prior to application*.

Desirable:

  • Promotion of evidence-based decision making; evidence-based clinical knowledge in making decisions regarding patient / client care.
  • Resilience and composure.

  • Be registered in RNID /or the General Division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland).
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • At least 12 months experience post registration

Desirable:

  • Post Graduate qualification in any of the above areas
  • Knowledge of Irish Healthcare
  • Knowledge of HIQA/Safer better healthcare standards

Permanent Full-Time Post (39 hours)

The successful candidate will be expected to meet the following criteria:
Essential:

  • Nursing RNID/RGN of the Register of Nurses kept by An Bord Altranais.
  • Be a Registered Nursing Tutor.
  • Have five years post registration experience in Healthcare and/or Social Care.
  • Postgraduate Qualification at Masters level in any of the specialties: Nursing Education, Aging in Intellectual Disability, Gerontology, Rehabilitation.
  • Having a working knowledge of HIQA Standards
  • Have demonstrated the ability to lead and report on and effect change in nursing practice.

Desirable:

  • Experience at managerial level within a clinical setting
