Visitors Information

It is Peamount Healthcare’s policy to ensure that all service users and relatives visiting requirements are facilitated on an individual basis.

The following are the recommended visiting hours:

Visitors may be requested to leave the ward/unit due to health and safety issues, privacy and dignity issues, during protected mealtimes and therapeutic interventions.

Visitors may be asked to leave the bedside by staff if they need to attend to service user’s needs.

Children under the age of 16 are not permitted to visit on their own. They must be always under the supervision of another adult. Children cannot be left in the care of the service users.

A patient has the right to decline visitors. The Ward Manager can request that visitors leave if the number present or the length of the visit is deemed excessive. It is best to limit visitors to two at a time.

For Health and Safety reasons all visitors are requested to sign the visitor’s book. This is required so that the staff have a clear picture of who is on the ward/unit at any given time.

Visitors can avail of the beverage self service facility on the units. The Paddock’s Café is open for visitors between 9am and 3.30pm Monday to Friday.

Visitors should ensure to use hand hygiene facilities as available when entering and exiting wards/units.

Visitors should ensure ward staff are informed of all food being brought into the service user.

Additional restrictions apply from time to time, e.g., during outbreaks of infectious diseases. Visiting may be severely curtailed, next of kin only at these times.

Relatives and friends are requested not to visit if they have sore throats, flu, vomiting and/or diarrhoea or other infections until they have been well for 48 hours, because of the risk of introducing infection to the patients.

Visiting hours may also be restricted for medical or emergency situations.

Tanya has extensive experience working in senior leadership roles in the health service. Following a period as Director of Nursing and Deputy CEO in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, her most recent post has been Deputy Chief Nursing Officer in the Department of Health. Tanya has also worked in St Vincent’s University Hospital and the Office of the Director General in the Health Service Executive. Tanya qualified as a nurse, completing a post graduate BNS, Diplomas in Oncology , Quality and Leadership and has an MSc in Healthcare Management. She is a Fellow of the Faculty of Nursing of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland. Tanya is committed to ensuring the delivery of high-quality person centered health care and looks to build strong relationships with all stakeholders to deliver innovative and sustainable service improvement.

Catherine Slattery

Director of Rehabilitation Services

Catherine has extensive experience of working in the health and social care sector. She qualified as both a general and psychiatric nurse and worked in the NHS and Ireland in various nursing roles. In the last 14 years she has held a number of senior health and social care positions in the voluntary and community sector. She holds a BA in Psychology, MBA in Health Services Management, post graduate qualification in Risk Management and a black belt in Lean Healthcare. In recent years Catherine’s special interests are in the areas of Rehabilitation and Disability.

Elizabeth McGrattan

Director of Nursing and Social Care

Elizabeth has 15 years nursing experience in both the acute, social care, private and community sector. She qualified in general nursing and has worked in various roles including acute respiratory care, disability services and community care.

Elizabeth joined Peamount Healthcare in 2019 as Clinical Nurse Manager in Practice Development and more recently as Quality and Continuous Improvement Manager. Elizabeth was appointed to the role of Director of Nursing and Social Care in April 2023.

Elizabeth holds a BScN in General Nursing from Trinity College Dublin, a Post Graduate Diploma in Adult Respiratory Care from the University of Limerick and is currently undertaking a Post Graduate Diploma in Quality and Safety in Healthcare Management with the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland.

Elizabeth has a special interest in quality and safety and working closely with the nursing and social care teams to ensure positive experiences for all who access services in Peamount Healthcare.
